Lecturers’ Forum demands ex-gratia for Corona warriors

JAMMU, Sept 6: All J&K Plus Two Lecturers’ Forum has demanded ex-gratia for Education employees in event of unfortunate loss of life while performing COVID-19 management duties.
The issue was discussed during a teleconference held under the leadership of Forum president Deepak Sharma, who said that like other Government employees engaged in COVID-19 containment measures, the teaching community including Plus Two Lecturers are also actively engaged as nodal officers/assistants in quarantine centers and performing magisterial duties as well apart from door to door health survey, distribution of mid day meal ration and home assignments and various other academic/non academic activities and are thus equally vulnerable to contamination with Coronavirus.
Sharma said that at least Rs one crore should be paid to the next of kin of the Government employees including employees of teaching community in case of their unfortunate death while performing COVID-19 containment duties.
Referring to sad and untimely demise of Jindal Padha, Senior Lecturer (Mathematics) of Government HSS Basholi (Kathua) who got infected with the virus in line of duty as Nodal Officer in COVID-19 management, Deepak Sharma demanded that the death of the officer be taken at par with other Corona warriors across the country who have given their lives while discharging their duties in COVID -19 pandemic related assignments.
He urged LG of J&K Manoj Sinha to grant ex-gratia to the family members of the dedicated officer and an exemplary teacher.
