UMC launches anti encroachment drive

UDHAMPUR, Sept 10: Udhampur Municipal Council today conducted an anti encroachment drive throughout the Udhampur town to clear traffic congestion caused due to encroachments.
A number of encroachments and extended pavements in front of shops were demolished during the drive despite some protests and slogan shouting by the locals.
The anti encroachment drive was launched on the direction of Dr Piyush Singla, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, under the supervision of Santosh Kotwal, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) UMC Udhampur at ward number 11, DC Residence road, this morning. Public announcements in this regard was already made by the UMC asking all the shopkeepers for removing their encroachments, especially on both sides of the road.
The drive was conducted by a team of Udhampur Municipality Council Khilafwarji officer Narjeev Singh Jamwal and Rajesh Shani and Naib Tehsildar Mohammed Salim along with the police team and other staff members of the Municipality Council.
