Arrangements for Baba Agar Jitto Mela discussed

REASI May 23:  To discuss the arrangements for   smooth conduct of 3-day historic Baba Agar Jitto mela, commencing from June 3, 2012 at village Agar of district Reasi, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Sheetal Nanda on Wednesday.
Threadbare discussion with regard to   the arrangements for the Mela including, provision for drinking water and power supply, medicare, sanitation, security, transport, accommodation, repair of road, checking of rates of essentials and parking of vehicles etc. were held during the meeting.
The DDC directed Executive Engineer PHE to erect adequate number of public points at the Mela site well in advance, while the Executive Engineer, PDD was asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply during mela days.
The Chief Medical Officer was asked to make available a team of doctors with ambulance and required medicines round the clock during the mela days. Executive Engineer, PWD was asked to erect separate temporary toilets and bath rooms for males and females at the Mela site for the convenience of pilgrims.
Adequate deployment of security personnel enroute and around the Mela site would be made by District Police to ensure fool-proof security.
DDC also instructed the concerned departments to keep the strict checking  on rates and quality of eatables, besides the identification of parking sites at different locations for the smooth flow of traffic. It was also decided that the Department of Tourism would ensure publicity of the Mela well in advance to attract maximum visitors.
Naib Tehsildar, Katra, Sher Singh Thappa has been appointed as the Mela Officer to supervise all arrangements.
