SRINAGAR, Apr 23:  The residents of Hajiabad Bemina are up in arms against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to install an electric transformer in the area for more than six years now.
The residents have threatened action against the erring officials and decided to come out on roads to protest PDD’s inaction.
“Our area is purely a residential area having more than 50 households. The area is just two kilometers away from City center Batamaloo, but the irony is that the area is still without a transformer leaving the residents staggering in the dark,” Mohammad Lateef, a local resident said.
He said that the residents of this particular area have been made to wander from pillar to post for the past six years with officials promising to fulfill our demands but nothing seems to be working on ground.
