RAJOURI/DODA, Apr 23: The activists of Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) held protest demonstration at Rajouri town while National Students’ Union of India members at Khileni in Doda, against Delhi gang rape case today.
The BJYM activists led by district president, Nishu Gupta assembled near tehsil office complex Rajouri and staged demonstration to lodge their protest against the rape of girl child Gudia by three accused hailing from Bihar State. They shouted slogans against UPA Government, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. The agitating workers also burnt the effigy of Prime Minister and alleged that Government has literally failed to protect the members of fair sex.
These BJYM activist of the city unit also marched through the main bazaar and then culminated their protest in Tehsil office complex. They were demanding that all the three rape accused be hanged. Later, they dispersed after staging protest for over an hour. Mr Gupta and some other leaders also addressed the gathering of nearly 200 people.
The activists of NSUI also held candle light protest against Delhi rape case at Khileni in district Doda today. The NSUI activists including women and children assembled at Govt Polytechnic at around 7.30 pm at Khileni. After passing through the main market the locals culminated their protest near Higher Secondary School. All of them were holding burning candles in their hands and shouting slogans, seeking justice and execution of the rapists. State president of the NSUI Udhay Chib was leading the protest. NSUI District president Doda, Vishal Kotwal and Ravi Kumar Ashwin, vice president were also present.
Meanwhile, Pradesh Mahila Congress workers of Kashmir in a meeting held at party office Srinagar passed a resolution demanding strongest possible action against the accused involved in the gang rape of a 5-year-old girl in Delhi. They condemned the heinous incident in strong words and urged the Central Government to protect the members of fair sex in the society. Prominent among those present in the meeting included senior vice president, J&K Congress Mahila Wing, Shamima Raina, Shameema Sopori general secretary, Habla Kar, Jawahira, Rafiqa and Shehzada.
