JAMMU, Sept 19: Former State president BJP and senior party leader, Ashok Khajuria has ridiculed the Congress leader’s suggestion to PM, Narendra Modi asking him to win the hearts of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
While commenting on the statement of senior Congress leader, Ashok Bhan who asked PM Narendra Modi to win the hearts of people of J&K, Khajuria said had Bhan given such sermons to his party during last 70 years there would have been no unrest in Kashmir Valley and his own community men would have not been living as refugees within their country.
In a strong worded statement, Khajuria said the last over 30 years turmoil in Kashmir is the result of Nehruvian blunders and policies which were later carried forward by successive Congress governments at Centre and J&K.
Khajuria said had Nehru not declared unilateral ceasefire in 1947 with Pakistan there would have been no PoJK or Kashmir crisis. He said why Congress could not win the hearts of people of Kashmir when Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah his close friend created Plebiscite Front and allowed the Kashmiris to drift from national main stream?.
He said it was Congress who installed leaders in Kashmir without the will of the people and giving power to Bakshi Ghulam Mohammed, Shamas-ud-Din and later Ghulam Mohammed Sadiq. Khajuria asked Bhan that why could not he give sermons to Indira Gandhi in 1984 when she engineered defection in ruling NC by installing GM Shah with Congress support as CM.
He said the Congress leader even failed to give sermons to late PM, Rajiv Gandhi who joined an alliance with NC in J&K and the elections Assembly elections were rigged in 1987 that resulted in turmoil and the people of J&K are still bearing the brunt of it.
Khajuria said in comparison to that the BJP led Government by former PM, Atal Behari Vajpayee and now Narendra Modi took concrete steps in winning the hearts of the people of Kashmir who were misled by 70 long years by parties like Congress and NC. He said unlike Congress BJP believes in justice for all and appeasement to none and party has stick to this policy which is key to good governance.
