UDHAMPUR, Sept 22: Continuing its drive against drug peddlers, Police Party of Police Station Udhampur today apprehended one drug peddler and seized 60 kg of poppy straw from his possession while in another success, 2 narcotic smugglers were held with 12 grams of Heroin.
Reports said that during a routine naka checking, a Police team, led by SHO Udhampur Inspector Vijay Choudhary, intercepted one truck bearing registration number PB05N- 7633 for checking at Jakhani naka point, National Highway, Udhampur.
During search, 60 kg of poppy straw like substance was recovered from the truck, following which Police arrested the truck driver, identified as Paramjeet Singh, son of Balwant Singh of Kapurthala, Punjab.
The poppy straw as well as the truck were seized and a case FIR NO. 497/2020 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act was registered in this connection at PS Udhampur.
Meanwhile, in another success, patrolling party of Police Station Udhampur apprehended two drug peddlers and recovered 12 grams of Heroin like substance from them.
The accused were apprehended at Link Road near Subash Stadium Udhampur. They were identified as Akhilesh Sharma alias Leshi of W. No. 02 Indira Nagar, Udhampur and Amjad Khan of Adarsh Colony, Udhampur.
Police arrested both the accused persons and seized recovered Heroin. In this connection, a case FIR number 500/2020 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act at PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
