JAMMU, Sept 22: Domicile certificates are proving boon for the youth as they have opened roads of access to the Government facilities for every common resident of Jammu & Kashmir, who were earlier neglected and treated as second class citizens of the J&K, stated Bharatiya Janata Party All Morcha Incharge and senior leader, Munish Sharma.
Munish who handed over the Domicile certificates to some families here today said that Government is trying its best to ensure that the maximum people are provided domicile certificates at their doorsteps. “We also request the administration for helping out the needy persons by providing time bound assistance to them rendering their services at their doorsteps”, he said and added that it is necessary for the youth of the Jammu & Kashmir as the certificates are necessary for the admissions and jobs. The future of the youth relies on the timely delivery of the certificate.
Sharma said the Domicile certificate is not merely a piece of paper, but a document that restores the honour and dignity of lakhs of people who were victimized for past many decades. “Thanks to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi-led Government for ending the inhumane discrimination against the residents of J&K,” he added.
He said as per the new domicile law, non-permanent residents who have residency proof of at least 15 years in J&K are entitled to get domicile certificates. Prior to the reading down of Article 370, only State subjects were allowed to buy land and apply for Government jobs in Jammu and Kashmir and there existed a grave injustice with the communities like West Pakistan refugees, Gorkhas, Valmikis, displaced PoJK persons etc.
