Webinar on ‘Cyber Crime amidst Lockdown’ organised

UDHAMPUR, Sept 23: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA ) Udhampur organized a webinar on “Rising trend of Cyber Crime amidst Lockdown”, here today via Google Meet.
Webinar was organised by Secretary DLSA, Sandeep Kour under the guidance of M L Manhas, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Udhampur.
Distinguished speakers, who participated in the webinar and delivered lectures, were expert and trainer in Cyber Security; Mohamed Yasin Kichloo, Senior Superintendent of Police, Civil Secretariat J&K and Advocate Gulshan Singh. Beside others, students of Government Degree College Ramnagar and Kalara College of Education Udhampur also participated in the webinar. The event started with a welcome speech by Secretary DLSA, Sandeep Kour.
Speaking in the webinar, SSP Security M Y Kichloo explained the various cyber crimes happening in India and world during Covid-19 period and how one can combat with the issue. He also enlightened the participants about various tools and websites which can be used for cyber security and filing a complaint about cyber crime.
He added that the COVID-19 crisis has seen a spike in phishing attacks that have resulted in many people losing their hard-earned money. Scammers have taken advantage of the ongoing chaos and confusion to launch phishing emails, websites, and other forms of attacks. He added that during lock down, fraudsters looted people through various ways like OLX scams , Lottery fraud , , matrimonial scams and social media scams . He advised people not to share ATM pin, Bank details , OTP and password with any one to save themselves from cyber criminals .
“There are various laws made against cybercrime, scams, and fraud in the IT Act and IPC respectively,” he said and appealed Government to implement Section 70 and 79 -A of IT Act to ensure punishment to cyber criminals .
Advocate Gulshan Shan also deliberated on the topic in the webinar .
