Concern over alarming rise of COVID cases in Jagti township

JAMMU, Sept 24: A meeting of Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj (VKS) was held at Jagti Township under the leadership of Pinto Ji and took the stock of the situation there.
While addressing, Pintoo Ji expressed grave concern over the day by day increasing number of COVID cases in the camp. As per the reports and daily tests conducted under RAT at Jagti Hospital about 20 percent are being found positive every day which is alarming. “We request BMO, Dansal and CMO GMC and all concerned officials should engage more para medical staff and organize a Mobile RAT camp every day to conduct tests, before the situation will go bad to worse as the camp is a big concentrated place consisting of 20,000 people and we fear and have apprehension of fast community spread of the disease”, he said.
He said the Jagti Hospital is lacking required and every basic facility i:e providing of ambulance round the clock, necessary medicines ,oxygen supply, isolation centre as township is 18 kms away from Jammu city and in emergency it is difficult to shift patient to GMC who would have need of immediate care. After conducting test by RAT team, the positive patients are being asked to isolate themselves in an isolated places and it is not possible to isolate and accommodate them in the quarters. This matter was also brought into the kind notice of Divisional Commissioner on his visit to Jagti recently, who assured full cooperation ,but till date no such facilities have been provided, he added.
The meeting appealed the LG to take immediate precautionary measures and direct the district administration, to monitor the alarming situation regularly. It urged the general public to maintain social distancing and follow the Government guide lines.
The district administrator and the concerned are also requested to facilitate the Isolation Centre nearer to the Camp keeping in view the lack of accommodation for isolation in the homes of the positive cases in Jagti camp with providing of all the round medical , Medicare and ambulance facility.The Relief Commissioner was also requested to sanitize the camp regularly keeping in view the alarming situation.
