Deficiency of oxygen, lack of ventilators cause of concern: NC

JAMMU, Sept 25: Senior National Conference leader and Former MLC Rattan Lal Gupta today said that deficiency of oxygen and lack of ventilators has emerged as cause of grave concern during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation.
“Alarming reports of deaths due to deficiency of oxygen has shattered the faith of the people in the system and health services, notwithstanding the fact that frontline corona warriors like doctors, paramedics and the support staff were doing excellent job at the peril of risk to them and their families”, Gupta said in a statement issued here today.
Gupta expressed surprise that despite widespread anguish and concern among the people, the Government seems to be in deep slumber, preferring issuing statements instead of doing something credible on the ground. Same is the case with the central team that made much fanfare about the visit to Jammu and Kashmir but failed in putting the system on rail. The representatives from the Jammu region in Parliament too have let down the people by not asserting and getting the system moving in the larger interest of patients. The Centre has miserably failed in rising to the occasion during the most turbulent times of COVID, he added.
Gupta sought putting in place all the oxygen plants and making similar facilities functional in the associated hospitals and other peripheral health institutions on war footing. The people must know what the government is upto in dealing with the situation, he added.
