JAMMU, Sept 25: Senior Panun Kashmir (PK) leader and columnist, Prof. M.L.Raina passed away today after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife, son and daughter. Prof Raina who had earned a lot of respect from his students for his humbleness, cooperative and friendly attitude with them remained actively associated with Panun Kashmir struggle after the mass exodus of Pandits from Valley in 1990 and he served as chairman of its Political Affairs Committee for a long time. Later he was appointed its advisor and was holding this post till his death.
An intellectual of the highest order, Prof Raina had a deep understanding of the socio-political milieu of the J&K. Prof. Raina represented Panun Kashmir at various forums with great distinction.
A condolence meeting was held today, where rich tributes were paid to him for his immense contributions to Panun Kashmir and the Kashmiri Pandit Community.
