Govt should take steps for rehabilitation of Pandits: JTC

JAMMU, Sept 25: Shadi Lal Pandita, president Jagti Tenement Comittee (JTC) Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) J&K has said that thousands of Kashmiri Pandits are ready to return to Kashmir Valley and Government should take concrete steps in this regard.
Pandita said the Kashmiri Pandits want to be resettled in the Valley and the Government must accept the conditions and demands of the community in this regard. Pandita said that ten transit camp townships in ten districts of Kashmir Valley should be set up as soon as possible for the package employees so that they can live there with their families. He urged the Government to set up three Satellite townships in Kashmir Valley for return and rehabilitation of Pandits in districts of Baramulla, Srinagar and Anantnag, where 30,000 to 35,000 families can be accommodated in each satellite township with political and minority status.
He urged the Government to meet the demands of relief holder’s and increase the monthly cash relief from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 per family per month. He urged the Government that 20,000 Jobs should be announced for Kashmiri Pandit educated youth and firstly Jobs should be given to each and every member of those families who have no Government employee. Pandita urged the Government to address these lingering demands of Kashmiri Pandits immediately which included compensation for 30 years property loss, remaining balance exgratia of burnt houses, competition and free loans for over aged youth, on spot police recruitment drive for the Kashmiri Pandit migrant youth, restoration of Pandits property and property of their religious places which has been encroached, medical facilities and Central schemes be implemented for Kashmiri Pandits.
