Rural Action Committee projects issues

KATHUA, Sept 27: Rural Action Committee highlighted various problems being faced by people living in border and kandi areas of Samba and Kathua districts.
Addressing a press conference, Convener of the Committee Ranjit Singh and Secretary Ashok Jasrotia said that the people of Kashmir residing along border areas are getting all benefits of LoC and RBA, but the people Kathua and Samba border areas are deprived of any such benefit since 1947.
“Our border people are continually facing loss due to cross border firing by Pakistan”, they added. Singh has demanded compensation of land and losses suffered due to firing in border areas.
“As the defense has occupied hundreds of kanals of people land for ditch, morcha, border track and thousands canals of land lying non-cultivated on border, the owners were not given the crops compensation and land compensation since last 15 years”, Singh added.
He demanded to construct reservoir and chack dam on river Tarnah and Bei as the water is flowing to Pakistan and the farmers are deprived of irrigation water.
On behalf of people living in border and kandi areas, Singh demanded construction of roads, lanes and drain, uninterrupted power supply, regular water supply, irrigation sources, development in education infrastructure, health sector, etc.
