SRINAGAR, Sept 28: Terming it discriminatory, the Teacher’s Association today questioned the Government plan of training the teachers under IMPACT program.
Addressing a press conference, the office bearers of the Association said that they are not against training the teachers, but the Government must make it clear who is a ‘trained’ teacher and who is ‘untrained’ one.

“There is a lot of confusion on the ground among teachers on who is trained and who is not, there is total discrimination regarding the training on part of the Government,” the Association said.
It said that the Government must clear the confusion that galore among the teachers. The teachers said that the Government must come up with an explanation on this.
“Most of the teachers in J&K are well qualified; they have got professional degrees and the Government is picking two teachers out of 10, all we need to know is that what is the basis of that you are picking two and not others,” they said.
The Association also demanded that they should be brought at par with the teachers of other Union Territories. “Now that we are in a UT, we must also get what the teachers of other UTs are getting,” they said.
They also said that the teachers are performing additional duties and that the Government must consider that.
“The teachers, apart from teaching online, are performing their duties at the COVID centres; they are actively participating in sampling; this should be considered by the Government,” they said.
The teachers impressed upon the Government to address their issues at the earliest and end the policy of discrimination that is on with the teachers of J&K.
