JAMMU, Sept 29: With a view to maintain better sanitation and hygiene in the markets and also to stop disposal of garbage on roads, Jammu Municipal Corporation distributed dustbins to the shopkeepers of Ward Numbers 29 and 33 by Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, JMC in presence of Avny Lavasa, Commissioner and Tinna Mahajan, Secretary, JMC.
Mayor appealed to the owners of shopkeepers and other businessman establishment owners to handover the waste only to designated vehicles which have been kept exclusively for this purpose.
Commissioner also spoke on the occasion and made people aware of the fine and penalties to be imposed on defaulters and violators as per Solid Waste Management bye laws for littering and open dumping of garbage including (C&D) waste etc. The amount of fines and penalties for different violators and defaulters has already been notified by JMC.
Corporator of Ward Number 29 assured that they shall provide full cooperation to JMC for maintaining sanitation upto to the satisfactory level.
