Govt urged to provide basic facilities in hospitals to combat COVID

JAMMU, Oct 2: Various social organizations and members of civil society Jammu have urged the Government to improve the functioning in the Government Medical Colleges and other hospitals of Jammu region to combat the COVID Pandemic and provide better health care facilities to the patients.
In their joint statement, Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Abu Gupta, Satish Poonchi president Jammu Peoples Front and Dr Ramesh Bhat a social activist and member Indian Society of Blood Transfusion have urged the Union Governemnt to ensure supply of adequate oxygen cylinders and ventilators to the Jammu region where patients are facing many hardships due to inadequate infrastractual facilities.
While asking people to cooperate with doctors and para medical; staff in hospitals, they also urged the members of medical fraternity to take the present pandemic as a challenge and treat the patients admitted in hospitals with a human heart.
They demanded that various private hospitals be also converted for treatment of COVID patients and the Government should provide facilities to them also to deal with Pandemic which has taken alarming situation and made people panicky.
The members of Civil Society have also demanded conversion of Jagti Hospital as COVID Hospital besides the G P Pant Hospital as non COVID Hospital where the all facilities and infrastructure should be provided.
In addition to it the services of other private hospitals in Jammu region be also utilized in treating the COVID patients to decrease the rush in GMC and these hospitals be provided with basic facilities besides manpower till the pandemic is over.
