Bovine smuggling bid foiled, 18 animals rescued

SAMBA, Oct 2: Continuing its drive against bovines smuggling, District Police Samba foiled an attempt to smuggle bovines by rescuing 18 bovines and arresting a bovine smuggler in the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur.
A police party of PS Vijaypur, while performing vehicle checking duty at naka NHW near AIIMS site, Rakh Barotian Vijaypur, signaled a truck bearing Regd. No. ASO1GC-2377 to stop which was coming from Kathua side and moving towards Valley.
On seeing the naka party, the driver accelerated the speed of vehicle and tried to fled away from the spot. But after strong chase by the alert cops, naka Police team apprehended the driver along with truck few meters away from the naka point.
During checking of the vehicle, 18 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. The accused driver identified as Kishore Sinha, S/O Manihar Sinha R/O Bajantipur Sadar, district Cachar, Assam has been arrested on spot. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting bovines was also seized on spot. In this regard, a case FIR No. 168/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Vijaypur and investigation taken up.
