SaMaPa Digital Baithak in 14th week with Sufiana Mausiqi

JAMMU, Oct 5: SaMaPa Digital Baithak series witnessed delightful renditions of Sufiana Mausiqi and Indian classical music during its 14th week enthralling the listeners.
The digital baithak is being presented by SaMaPa (Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts), acclaimed as a cultural movement and a Cultural Bridge of J&K with the rest of the country, under the aegis of the legendary Santoor maestro Pandit Bhajan Sopori and cultural icon Abhay Rustum Sopori running exclusively on SaMaPa’s Official YouTube Channel.
The 27th session featured Hindustani Classical Vocal recital by Dhananjay Hegde from Bengaluru who presented Raga Nand with brief Aalap and two compositions in Vilambit and Drut Teentaal.
He was accompanied by Sagar Bharathraj on Tabla, Surya Upadhyaya on Harmonium and Pratima Hegde and Shreya on Tanpura. The introduction to the recital was presented by the eminent vocalist Pandit Bholanath Mishra.
The other session and the 28th episode of the Digital Baithak featured a specially designed Sufiana Mausiqi recital, the classical music of Kashmir, by Ustad Shabir Ahmad Saznawaz. He commenced his recital with Muqam-e-Pahalvi set to Du-Yak Taal, a rhythmic cycle of 8 beats followed by Muqam-e-Gabri in Chapandaz Taal, a rhythmic cycle of 6 beats and Muqam-e-Purbi in Sehtaal, a rhythmic cycle of 12 beats. A ‘Top’ grade artist of All India Radio, Ustad Shabir Saznawaz is a well-known musician of Jammu and Kashmir belonging to the family of musicians of the Sufiana Gharana of Kashmir representing the 7th generation of Ustad Mohammad Ramzan Joo tradition. Leading on Santoor, he was joined by Ustad Mushtaq Ahmad Saznawaz on Saaz-e-Kashmir, Kaiser Mushtaq and Wajahat Shabir on Sehtar and Mohammad Rafeeq Saznawaz on Dokra.
The introduction was presented by the great music legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori who gave a brief history and educational explanation of development of Sufiana Mausiqi in Kashmir while explaining the system of Muqams.
The Baithaks were compeered by the renowned broadcaster and anchor Sadhna Shrivastav.
