COVID recovery rate crosses 80 pc mark in J&K: RDA

JAMMU, Oct 7: The recovery rate of COVID-19 patients in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory has crossed the 80 per cent mark for the first time since the infections had soared in the region.
This was stated by Dr Amit Kumar, president of Resident Doctors Association (RDA) in a statement issued today. He said the administration of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu is working day and night to provide relief to the COVID-19 patients and suspects, and as result the recovery rate of COVID patients has cross 80 per cent mark in the Union Territory.
Dr Amit mentioned that in September 2020, more than 3200 COVID patients have been recovered and discharged from the Government hospitals of Jammu Division out of which more than 1100 has been recovered and discharged from GMC and Associated Hospitals, Jammu.
Briefing over the duties and functioning of the GMC Jammu, Dr Mohinder, vice president, RDA, mentioned that GMCH administration has already assigned duties to doctors on month wise for the proper care and treatment of COVID patients.
Dr Mohinder mentioned that a dedicated COVID Operation Theatre has also been established at SMGS Hospital for cesarean section of women found COVID positive while dedicated staff from Anaesthesia, Gynae and Pediatrics has also been posted for proper care to mother as well as to new born.
Secretary and spokesperson of RDA, Dr Mukhtyar Khan said that the doctors have not been provided any leave since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic but it is unfortunate that instead of appreciating their work as frontline warriors they have been targeted by various sections of society by different means.
He emphasized that the association will extend all possible support to the administration as well as the people, who are in distress, to contain spread of COVID-19 and in helping J&K to successfully tide over this global crisis.
