MJR-47 condemns AICTE for denial of reservation to Sikhs

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Oct 9: MJR-47, an organisation of DPs from PoK has condemned the AICTE authorities for its discriminatory order with regard to denial of reservation in technical institutions to the Sikhs in Kashmir and other displaced families.
Jagjeet Singh Sudan, convenor of the organisation said that All India Council of Technical Education, AICTE , issued order on October 6, 2020 extending  reservation to the wards of Kashmiri-non-migrant Pandits/Hindu families for admission in all the technical institutions in the country. This concession of 5% seats and 10% in merit was already available for Kashmiri migrants for the past so many years.  Extending such concession to only Kashmiri non-migrants and all such Hindus, living in the valley excluding non migrants Sikhs and all other communities is highly discriminatory, and is against the spirit of justice to all.
The price of which they paid in their killings of 35 Sikh souls on a single day in Chitti Singhpura and subsequent mass massacre of Sikhs in Mehjoor Nagar, Srinagar. But Govt of India giving this concession and a special employment package only to Kashmiri Pandits and Hindus non- migrants ignoring Sikhs in Valley, This is open neglect of one particular community.
Similarly PoJK DPs have been making repeated demands to Government of India for including them for such concessions to their wards as they are educationally, socially and economically most deprived.
Even BJP senior leader Avinash Rai Khanna had assured, at the time of 2014 general elections,  to get such concessions extended to DPs of 1947 if not by separate quota then within Kashmiri migrants quota which was not being fully availed by migrants.
MJR-47 requested Ministry of Home Affairs and HRM to immediately include Sikh non migrants from Valley and also DPs of 1947, in the special quota of seats reservation in technical institutions in the country.
