Police officer among two killed, one injured in road accidents

JAMMU, Oct 11: Two persons including a police officer were killed and one injured in separate road accidents in city outskirts.
According to a police official, an officer of J&K police was killed today allegedly in a road accident at Narwal area of city outskirts. He said that ASI Jamal Din Shah (posted in Armed Police 7th Battalion, Channi Himmat) son of Sonalluah, resident of Mahore (Reasi) was on its way from Narwal to Bagh-e-Bahu in its personal car when he lost control over the vehicle and it rammed into divider of the road near Radisson Blue Hotel in Narwal area.
He said the police officer had no major visible injuries but he fell unconscious. “The officer was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors,” he added.
“The body was sent for postmortem while a case under relevant sections was registered in this connection at concerned police station,” the official added.
Meanwhile, a speeding car tonight hit a bike and injured its rider and pillion grievously at Sidhra. Both the injured persons who were in their 30s were shifted to GMC Jammu, where one of them was declared as brought dead by the doctors while condition of other was also critical when the last reports came in.
The identity of the deceased and the injured were yet to be identified. Sidhra police had taken cognizance of the matter.
