DODA, Oct 11: Apprehending insecurity, the residents of village Piyakul in Sub District Thathri expressed serious concern over hanging of electricity wires with wooden poles and trees in their areas and said that concerned Power Development Department (PDD) is least concerned over safety concerns of people.
Accusing the PDD of putting the lives of residents in danger by not aligning the electricity transmission lines on the electric poles, the residents said that the wires were let to hang upon wooden poles or trees which can make people prone to electrocution during rainy days.
“The PDD has failed to install the electric poles and the transmission lines can be seen hanging from the wooden poles or trees,” the residents said, adding the transmission lines were lying very low to the ground thus posing a severe danger to the lives of people of the area.
“We made repeated requests to the PDD officials seeking alignment of transmission lines on the electric poles but our pleas have fallen to deaf ears till date”, the residents alleged.
The residents warned to come on road if PDD failed to installed cemented or electric poles in their areas.
They appealed to the Lieutenant Governor to direct the PDD to install iron poles so that the people feel safe and secure.
When contacted, Xen PDD told the EXCELSIOR that very soon the tenders will be floated for the installation of the electric poles wherever needed.
