Hangul captured, shifted to Dachigam

Srinagar, Oct 12: A team of the Wild Life Department today captured a Hangul in Bachoo area of Awantipora in Pulwama district and shifted it to Dachigam National Park.
Officials said that the department was informed by the locals that they have spotted a Hangul roaming around in the area and the department was swift in a deputing team from Tral which captured the animal after strenuous efforts.
Hangul or Kashmir Stag is the rarest species in the world and is found only in Kashmir Valley.
Last year, a Hangul was captured from Tral area while a herd of around 6 to 8 deer were seen in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district recently.
The official said that captured ‘Hangul’ was shifted to Dachigam National Park.
