Wife, others get life imprisonment for killing husband

JAMMU, Oct 12: Additional Sessions Judge Udhampur S R Gandhi today awarded life-imprisonment to wife and members of her family for killing husband on demanding dowry.
The convicts are Vicky Kumar, brother-in-law, Rano Devi, mother-in-law, Neelu Devi, wife of deceased Sunny, son of Billa of Omara Morh Udhampur and Lakshmi Devi sister-in-law.
As per the prosecution case, Sunny was married with accused Neelu Devi in the year 2011 and out of this wedlock a child was born. Their relationship became strained after three months of the marriage. He started demanding dowry and money from his wife.
On 29.04.2013 deceased had gone to his in-laws-house at Sui and all the accused persons in furtherance of common object assaulted Sunny, who later died. Thereafter, the accused persons threw the body in the nearby area.
After hearing APP Anil Magotra for the Police, Additional Sessions Judge ordered, “for the commission of offence under Section 302/34 and 120-B of the RPC each of the convict shall suffer imprisonment for life and a fine of Rs 2,000”, adding “for the commission of offence under Section 201 RPC each of the convict shall undergo rigorous imprisonment for 1 year and a fine of Rs 1,000”. All the sentences shall run concurrently.
