UDHAMPUR, Oct 12: Thousands of people led by Former MLA and President National Panthers Party (NPP), Balwant Singh Mankotia, took out a procession here and also sent memorandum with signature of five thousand people to Prime Minister through DC Office.
Thousands of people gathered at Mini Stadium Town Hall and later took out a procession after Signature Campaign concluded at Salathia Chowk Udhampur.
While addressing the gathering, Mankotia said that despite after the guidelines of the Central Government, people have been locked in barbed wire under the pretext of red zone, for Coronavirus test people are being forced whereas shopkeepers and bus-matador owners are being harassed on the pretext of COVID-19 pandemic.
“The poor people are being harassed by being fined on the name of masks”, he said, adding that the Udhampur administration should cooperate instead of harassing the common people.
Further, he said that in Central Government’s Unlock 5.0 Guidelines issued on September 30, 2020 it is clearly mentioned that no District/Area should be declared as Red/Contaminated Zone in whole country even J&K UT Administration has separately issued the Unlock 5.0 guidelines on Oct 8, 2020 which also include that no District/Area of the UT will be declared Red/ Contaminated Zone but District Administration Udhampur has continued the restrictions from last approx 30 days in many areas due to which a common man is completely locked and disabled from earning his livelihood.
Mankotia said that Central Government has removed all the curbs on Inter-State/UT movement in Unlock 5.0 Guidelines but J&K UT Administration has made COVID-19 test mandatory at Lakhanpur on their arrival due to which travellers are suffering badly especially in Medical emergency etc.
He demanded that all the funds allotted and utilized during COVID period of time must be brought to the public domain in a transparent manner.
On this occasion, senior leaders of the party, Councillors, Panchs, Sarpanchs and members from Transport Union also spoke.
