SAMBA, Oct 12: The daily wagers of the Power Development Department (PDD) took out a rally in Vijaypur and protested against the Department for its failure in regularising their services.
A large number of daily wagers of the Department gathered at Vijaypur under the leadership of Gurnam Slathia and shouted slogans against the Government. The memorandum was given to Lt Governor through SDM, Vijaypur, Chandra Prakash Kotwal regarding their demands.
Gurnam Slathia alleged that the daily wagers employees of the Department have been on strike for the last several days in support of their demands. Neither Government implements the policy of regularization nor does it release their pending salary due to which the families of daily wagers are at the verge of starvation.
Seeking immediate intervention of Lt Governor, he appealed him to prepare a policy of regularization for the daily wagers working for the last several years and also release their pending salaries.
Gurnam said that neither the Government is making any policy to regularize them nor the salaries of daily salaried people are being released. Now it is also difficult to manage the household expenses. In this way the Government has to consider their legitimate demands needed.
Among these who joined the protest, Shashi Slathia, Surjeet Khajuria Rajesh Kumar etc.
