JAMMU, Oct 15: Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express and Shri Shakti Express, which were scheduled to resume its services from today, have been cancelled due to ongoing ‘Kissan’ agitation in neighbouring State of Punjab.
Few days back, Railways has announced resumption of two festival special trains— Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express and Shri Shakti Express from October 15 for pilgrims planning to visit Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine during holy ‘Navratri’.
However, both the special trains had to be cancelled today by the Railways due to farmers’ agitation in Punjab. “Vande Bharat and Shri Shakti Express trains from Delhi to Katra have been cancelled due to the farmers’ agitation in Punjab in view of farmers’ agitation,” said Station Manager, Railway Station Jammu, Rajiv Sabrawal.
“Many train services including 22439/22440 New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra ‘Vande Bharat Express’ have been cancelled due to Kissan Agitation. The services shall resume as soon as the Kissan Agitation is called off,” Northern Railway tweeted this evening.
Tagging the tweet of Northern Railway, MoS in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh tweeted: “For the kind attention of pilgrims and other passengers who had planned to travel to #KatraVaishnoDevi today by #VandeBharat Express. Our humble appeal to protesters not to disrupt trains on the eve of #Navratri.”
