Bring end to mess created at Lakhanpur: Cong to Admn

JAMMU, Oct 15: Several senior Congress leaders have lashed out at the UT Govt for the present mess at Lakhanpur entry point causing great hardships to the people of J&K and the visitors/tourists and pilgrims to Jammu, beside opposing the move imposing fresh taxes on the people like property tax.
In a joint statement here today, senior PCC leaders Madan Lal Sharma (Ex-MP), Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla, Kanta Bhan, Balwan Singh, Shiv Dev Singh, Yogesh Swhney, Manmohan Singh, Th Balbir Singh, Ashok Sharma, Prakash Sharma, GL Chalotra, Ch Gharu Ram, Shabir Khan, Indu Pawar, Hari Singh Chib, Shiv Kumar Sharma, YV Sharma, Pankaj Dogra, Rakesh Wazir, Dwarka Choudhary, Pawan Raina, Shashi Sharma, Rajesh Sadotra, Uday Chib and others have strongly criticized the restrictions at Lakhanpur despite order of the Central Govt, which have caused great loss and undue hardships to the people of J&K and those visiting J&K UT.
The people are facing great harassment at the entry point and they suffer physical, mental torture and financial loss due to the anti-people decisions of the UT administration. They sought immediate lifting of all unnecessary restrictions as per the recent order of Central Govt.
The senior leaders severely lashed out at the Central Govt and UT administration for the decision to impose property tax in addition to the Toll Tax, one time road tax and cess proposed power fare hike due to privatization and water tax, enhanced stamp duty and the registration fee and said that the BJP Govt wants to teach Jammu a lesson for the huge mandate. During the ongoing economic crisis and coupled with worst economic condition of the people due to COVID-19 is it justified to charge such taxes and enhance fee, they questioned.
They asked the `deaf & dumb’ BJP leadership to open their mouth and have some sympathy to the poor people who are already in great economic distress besides facing great health crisis due to failures of the BJP. They said the people should vehemently oppose economic policies of the BJP Govt .
Congress leaders also questioned the silence of the administration over the strike of the labour class and termed the present dispensation anti- labour, as thousands of casual, daily wager and need based workers are on strike but administration is totally silent and not redressing their issues on one hand the poor workers and their families are suffering while the common people too, are facing acute hardships due to ongoing strike, the Govt must accept their demands without any more delay, they added.
