KALAKOTE (RAJOURI) Oct 15: Senior National Conference leaders today paid glowing tributes to Thakur Rachpal Singh former MLA, describing him a leader par excellence, whose qualities of head and heart inspired younger generation of the party cadre and motivated them to work for betterment of people in whatever way they can.
“A sober, steadfast in his principles and leader of the masses Thakur worked tirelessly for strengthening the party at grass roots level, as he believed in the political philosophy of the National Conference which is based on the rich ethos of inclusiveness”, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana said at a prayer-cum-condolence meeting, organised by the District Unit of the NC at Sialsui Kalakote.
Rana said Thakur Rashpal had endeared himself with all segments of the society because of his commitment to the general cause of the people, irrespective of caste, creed and religion. He has left an indelible mark of public service and worked for harmonious growth of the society based on the cherished agenda of amity and brotherhood, he said, adding that Thakur Sahib will be remembered for upholding the secular values.
Th Rachpal Singh breathed his last on September 07 after a brief illness.
In his tribute, former minister Surjeet Singh Slathia said that Thakur Rashpal will always be remembered for his tireless contribution in ameliorating the lot of peasants, labour fraternity, weaker sections and downtrodden people of Jammu and Kashmir in general and Rajouri-Poonch belt in particular. He said his selfless service will remain a guiding force and inspiration for the younger generation of National Conference cadres.
Terming his death a great loss, former minister Abdul Gani Malik said that the party has lost a dedicated, sincere and hardworking leader whose role in strengthening the bonds of amity and brotherhood between various segments of society.
Provincial Youth National Conference President Ajaz Jaz said that Th Rachpal Singh will be remembered for his qualities of head and heart, saying public good was the mission of his life. He recalled his services to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in general and Rajouri district in particular, saying his departure has left a big vacuum in the party which is hard to be filled.
Former MLAs Dr Chaman Lal Bhagat and Mohammed Aslam also paid tributes to Th Rachpal Singh.
