DBPS demands ban on sale of meat, liquor during Navratras

JAMMU, Oct 15: Dogra Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha (DBPS) today demanded a ban on sale of meat items and liquor in Jammu province during the Navratra days.
While addressing media, president of the Sabha, Ved Parkash Sharma said during Navratas Durga Puja is performed in every household and large numbers of pilgrims visit Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine at Katra and at this juncture, the open sale of flesh and liquor can hurt sentiment of pilgrims,” he said.
Sabha chairman, PC Sharma said, Jammu has a tradition of celebrating festivals jointly by involving all communities.
He appealed to all the communities to support the demand and also appealed the general public to celebrate the upcoming festivals by following COVID-19 SOPs.
Chander Mohan Sharma, VM Magotra, Subash Shastri, Sat Pal Sharma, Gidhari Lal Sharma, Er Gurdas Sharma and many others were present during the media interaction.
