31 bovines rescued, four smugglers arrested

RAMBAN, Apr 26: The District police rescued 31 bovine animals and  arrested four  smugglers besides seizing 3 vehicles at Batote, Ramsoo and at Jawahar Tunnel today.
Reports said that soon after receiving information about transportation of bovine animals towards Kashmir valley, Police swung into action and laid  naka at Batote. During checking, Police  intercepted a truck bearing registration number  5797-JK14A which was illegally transporting 17 bovine animals towards Kashmir valley. The driver of truck, namely Gugar Ahmed of  Mazmu, Qazigund along with Mohd Refiq of  Mazmu, Qazigund were arrested and the vehicle along with bovines was seized. In this connection a case was also registered at Police Station Batote.
In another incident at Ramsoo, Police  party intercepted one Tata Mahindra bearing registration number JK03C/5919 and rescued five  bovine animals which were illegally being smuggled to Kashmir. Police arrested the smuggler identified as Abdul Salam of  Nagam Kokernag (driver) and seized the vehicle.
During another naka near  Jawahar Tunnel, Police intercepted a Tata 407 bearing registration number  JK03A/5996 loaded with 9 bovines. The smuggler namely Manzoor Ahmed of  D K Marg Kulgam was  arrested and the vehicle was seized.
