JAMMU, Oct 16: Rajouri police today arrested an SSB jawan who had deserted his unit in Budgam district along with magazine and rounds and was heading towards his house at village Rehan in Kandi Koteranka area in a truck.
SSP Rajouri Chandan Kohli told the Excelsior that the jawan identified as Altaf Hussain of Rehan had deserted the unit about couple of days back. Rajouri police had been put on high alert to nab him as he hailed from the district.
During surprise naka, police subjected a truck coming from Kashmir to checking and nabbed the SSB jawan. Police recovered one rifle magazine and 20 rounds from the possession of Altaf, Kohli said.
He added that police informed their counterparts in Budgam which reached Rajouri and took custody of the SSB jawan.
It may be mentioned here that a case has been registered against the jawan in Budgam.
The jawan has deserted the unit and was on way home over a family dispute.
