Wanted criminal held after 12 yrs

JAMMU, Oct 17: The Crime Branch Jammu team today arrested a wanted criminal after long span of 12 years.
Official sources said that after developing intelligence, raided the hide out and arrested absconder Kashmiri migrant-Kanhaiya Lal Mattas, son of Late Damodar Lal Mattas, resident of Budgam, Kashmir, at present H. No. 251 Krishna Nagar, Jammu wanted in case FIR No. 02/1993 U/S 419, 420, 467, 468, 471/RPC P/S Crime Branch Jammu and produced him before the Court of Ist Addl Sessions Jammu.
The accused is involved in the instant case for preparation of multiple Migrant Relief Form for getting undue relief, which were registered in Bakshi Nagar-II Zone and Mini Stadium Zone. The accused had gone underground and was evading his arrest for the last 12 years.
The instant case was registered in Crime Branch Jammu on a written complaint lodged by Deputy Commissioner Vigilance (Relief) against the said accused person in the year 1993. The investigation of the case was closed as challaned and charge-sheet was produced in the Court of Law in February-1994 against the above said accused person. During trial of the case, the accused person had absconded and gone underground. Since the accused was evading his arrests, Court had initiated proceedings U/S 512 Cr PC for effecting his arrest.
