SRINAGAR, Oct 19: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the J&K UT administration to make serious intervention to safeguard the interests of lakhs of people who are directly or indirectly associated with the horticulture industry.
Speaking on the sidelines of a function held to felicitate the newly nominated office bearers of the party for Budgam district, party vice president, Abdul Rehman Veeri exhorted upon the authorities to initiate special measures to address the issues faced by the ailing Horticulture industry in J&K.
“Horticulture industry is the backbone of our economy and is facing severe problems, affecting lakhs of people connected with it. The undue delay faced in the transportation and lack of market support interventions, are further hitting the already ailing industry,” Veerti maintained.
Party general secretary, G N Lone Hanjura while speaking on the occasion, impressed upon the newly nominated office bearers and the party cadre in general to strengthen the party at grassroots level and take party president, Mehbooba Mufti’s message of unity for the fight of honour and dignity to the masses.
The newly nominated office bearers expressed their gratitude to Mehbooba Mufti and other party leaders for showing confidence and trust in them and pledged to work hard towards strengthening the party and accomplish its pro-people agenda.
Senior party leaders who spoke on the occasion included, Mohd Khurseed Alam, Abdul Hamid Kosheen, Anjum Fazili, Nazir Ahmed Khan, Fayaz Ahmed, Haji Parvez, Abdul Rouf Bhat and Bashir Ahmed Beg.
