JAMMU, Oct 21: The Government today appointed Dr Shashi S Sudhan, Head of Department Microbiology in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu as new Principal of the GMC in addition to her own duties.
Dr Nasib Chand Digra, Principal GMC Jammu was transferred and posted as Secretary (Technical) in the Health and Medical Education Department. His salary will, however, be drawn against the post of the Principal GMC Jammu.
As per the Government order, Dr Sudhan will look-after the charge of the post of Principal GMC Jammu, in addition to her own duties, till a regular arrangement is made.
Dr Shashi Sudhan has been in forefront in the Government’s efforts of COVID management in Jammu and was instrumental in setting up several Laboratories in the hospitals other than the GMC Jammu for conducting Corona tests. The Microbiology Department under her command had conducted 3000 tests per day.
In view of her major role in COVID management, the J&K Government had awarded her with Lieutenant Governor’s Medal on August 15 this year.
