JAMMU, Oct 22: The nation is indebted to the martyrs and their families as they sacrifice their today to ensure that their fellow citizens may live in secure and happy environment.
It was stated by the former Member Legislative Council (MLC), Vikram Randhawa while paying floral tributes to martyred Gurnam Singh on his fourth martyrdom which was observed at his native village Rathana in RS Pura.
The function was attended by former Minister Sham Choudhary besides scores of local residents and officials of 173 Battalion, Border Security Force (BSF).
While speaking on the occasion, Randhawa said that it is the sacrifice of martyrs which keeps a nation secure and its citizens safe. He said that Jammu is a land of martyrs where thousands of youth laid down their lives while fighting enemies at border and terrorists in Kashmir as well as other parts of the country.
He said that the Government is beholden to see that the families of the martyrs do not suffer and should be treated as a ‘VIP family’. He also urged upon the locals to ensure that the families of martyrs get due privilege as well as proper respect.
Former Minister Sham Choudhary while speaking on the occasion said that the families of the martyrs are assets of the nation and every citizen is duty bound to ensure that they do not suffer any problem as their family member has laid down his life for us.
Deputy Commandant Som Nath and Inspector Gurvinder Singh of 173 BN BSF along with their team were present on the occasion.
Others who were present include Kulbir Singh (Father), Jaswant Kour (Mother), Kulvinder Singh (Brother), Kulbir Singh (Sarpanch), Manmeet Singh, Surjeet Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Makhan Singh, Gurdeep Singh and Manjeet Singh.
