N N Vohra’s term as J&K Governor extended

NEW DELHI :  The term of Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra has been extended, the Rashtrapati Bhavan announced here today.
“The President of India has been pleased to appoint Mr Narinder Nath Vohra to be the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir for a fresh term on the expiry of his present term,” Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a brief communique.
Mr Vohra became Governor of Jammu and Kashmir on June 25, 2008.
Since February 2003, until he became the governor in 2008, Mr Vohra was the Centre’s interlocutor on Kashmir and was responsible for holding discussions with all sections of the society in the state including elected representatives and separatists in a bid to forge a common ground for the all-round development of the terrorism-ridden state.
He took over from Lt Gen (Retrd) S K Sinha as the first civilian governor of Jammu and Kashmir in 18 years after Jagmohan.
