Patwar Association’s strike enters 20th day

JAMMU, Apr 27: Demanding DPC of Girdawars as Naib Tehsildars and transparency in the transfer policy, the indefinite strike by All Jammu and Kashmir Patwar Association entered 20th day today.
Amid slogans, all Patwaries and Girdawars of Jammu district assembled at district head quarters Jammu and held protest.
They were also demanding removal of pay disparity with retrospective effect, stoppage of direct recruitment of Naib Tehsildars, enhancement of PSC examination chances from four to eight, establishment of departmental enquiry cell, DPC of Girdawar as Naib Tehsildar, transparency in transfer policy, re-organization of Patwar Halqas, construction of Patwar Khanas and enhancement of Sair Kharcha and other allowances.
While speaking, provincial president Raman Raj Sharma cautioned the cadre to remain vigilant as the Government may try to sabotage the movement of the association by tactics.
“We are protesting for the past 20 days and the Government is not paying any heed, thus compelling us to come on roads and hold massive protest”, he alleged.
He added that the strike will continue till their demands were not redressed by the Government.
Mushtaq Ahmed Ganai, district president and other members of the association also spoke on the occasion.
