JAMMU, Apr 27: Municipal Magistrate Jammu, V S Bhau has rejected the bail application of husband and mother-in-law of a woman in abetment to suicide case.
According to the police case, on April 14, 2013 Vandana Devi was admitted in the hospital after attempting to commit suicide by pouring kerosene oil on herself. Her statement was recorded in which she alleged that her husband Raman Kumar, mother-in-law Bimla Devi and father-in-law used to harass and beat her and this compelled her to take extreme step.
After hearing Senior PO Rohit Gupta for the State, Municipal Magistrate observed, “the statement of the deceased recorded in the presence of witnesses and police is indicative of the fact that she was subjected to torture and cruelty forcing her to take extreme step”, adding “evidence collected by the prosecution pin-points the involvement of the accused in the commission of offence”.
With these observations, Court declined to exercise discretion of bail in the favour of accused persons.
