BJP supports Sarabjit; BJYM, RSS burn Pak flags

JAMMU, Apr 27: BJP has come out strongly in support of Sarabjit Singh and called for strict action against the authorities of Kot Lakhpat Jail of Lahore, who are responsible for the murderous assault of this Indian prisoner.
While the BJP State President Jugal Kishore Sharma declared the Party’s resolve to take up the issue of Sarabjit Singh on the same lines as that of Chameil Singh, the youth wing of the Party, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) held a massive protest against the treatment meted to Sarabjit Singh in Pakistan jail and also burnt flag of Pakistan under the leadership of BJYM District President Ajay Vaid.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, while expressing solidarity with the family of Sarabjit Singh, recalled the case of Chameil Singh, a resident of J&K, who was allegedly tortured and murdered in Pakistani jail a few months ago and his dead body was returned only after a long persuasion and that too when BJP took up the issue at national and diplomatic levels.
BJYM activists held massive protest at Kachi Chawni, shouting slogans against Pakistan and UPA Government and praying for early recovery of Sarabjit Singh were led by District President BJYM Ajay Vaid.
Ajay Vaid said that it seems a deep conspiracy to harass, torture and later kill the Indians in Pakistani jails and the same is clear from the case of Chameil Singh and now Sarabjit Singh who is struggling hard for survival in a hospital. He said that the Union Government did not take lesson from the incident of Chameil Singh as a result of which Sarabjit Singh too was subjected to same torture. He said that BJYM will continue its struggle for justice to Sarabjit Singh and if need be, it will further intensify its agitation.
Vijay Choudhary, Sanjay Baru, Ayodhya Gupta, Praduman Singh, Kuldeep Kandhari, Varun Malhotra, Gurdyal Singh Bali and others took part in the protest demonstration.
Another demonstration was held by Rashtrawadi Shiv Sena (RSS) at Press Club here against the attack on Sarbjeet Singh in Pakistani jail.
The demonstration was led by senior leaders of the Party including Vipin Hindu and Ashwani Gupta.
Vipin Hindu while addressing protestors said that the act reveals that Pakistan was hell bent to kill Sarbjeet Singh though he is not involved in any kind of terrorism. He said the Government of Pakistan could not hang him and it has now adopted different ways to eliminate the innocent Sarbjeet Singh who has been falsely implicated in terrorist act by the Government of Pakistan. Terming the Pakistani act as cowardice, Ashwani Gupta said this shows that even the jails are not safe in Pakistan.
Vikas Dewan, Ravi Verma, Rajinder Gupta, Ch Nath Pal, Puran Singh, Ashwani Ghandotra and others participated in protest. The protestors also torched the effigy of Pakistan.
All J&K Sikh Unity Forum led by its convener Rajinder Singh has also strongly condemned the attack on Sarbjit Singh in Pakistan’s Lahore jail.
Mr Singh has blamed Pakistani Government for negligence in jail administration total negligence. He wanted to know that how such an unfortunate incident can take place when a person is facing death sentence. A person undergoing death sentence in the jail no one is allowed to meet him without the permission of jail authorities and the incident tantamount to violation of human rights.
He said earlier the Pak jail authorities killed Chamel Singh of Jammu and people of India will not tolerate this. S Gurdeep Sing, S Manohar Singh, S Nirmal Singh, S Balbir Singh were among others who condemned the act.
KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri has also strongly condemned the attack on Sarabjit Singh and urged the Government of India to take up the issue with Pakistan and warn the neighboring country that such acts will lead to serious consequences as people of India will not tolerate this nay more now.
He also urged the GOI to adopt a tough posture against the Pakistan which has been habitual of repeating such acts considering India a soft state. He also expressed concern over Chinese intrusion in Ladakh and termed it a result of weakened policies of GOI.
