JAMMU, Oct 30: An anti-encroachment drive was conducted in Akhnoor town by Municipal Committee with the help of Akhnoor police and tehsil administration.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor, Varun Jandial, SDM Akhnoor Gopal Singh, Deputy SP Traffic Neeraj Padyar and Tehsildar Akhnoor Surinder Singh.
A team of police led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar and officials of Municipal Committee Akhnoor led by Enforcement Inspector Kuldeep Raj take a round of the whole Akhnoor market and booked several for encroaching roads and footpaths and wrong parking of vehicles.
While traffic police booked 12 defaulters for wrong parking and imposed fine worth Rs 25,000 from them, 20 defaulters were booked under Municipality Act by the Municipal officials and fine of Rs 43,000 was realized from the defaulters. Besides, 2-full tipper of articles displayed on roads and footpaths were seized by the Municipal officials.
The team warned the shopkeepers of stern action for further encroachment of roads and footpaths, which led to traffic mess.
