This has reference to the news item ‘Governor for opening generic drug stores at District, Tehsil levels DE Apr 6.
It is quite heartening to learn that Red Cross is going to open Jan Aushadhi Generic Drug Stores in all district hospitals in the State. This will bring great relief to people in light of the increasing prices of medicines. Todays people have to shell out a huge sum of money on medicines and it pinches the poor most.
However, what is dismaying is the fact that the State Government had sometime back announced that Jan Aushadhi outlets will be opened in the State. But no such centre has come up despite so much elasping of time.
If these outlet had come into existence, the spurious drug scam that has surface in the State would not have been there.
It is right time the Health Ministry once again considers opening of Jan Aushadhi outlets in the State. This will be a great service to people of the State who are at the receiving end of present circumstances.
