AKHNOOR, Oct 31: A delegation of various organizations working for disables in J&K today called on Samita Sethi, Director Social Welfare to apprise her of grievances of disabled people.
The delegation comprised of Sushil Sharma, chairman JK Disabled Welfare Association; Umesh Sharma, chairman Disabled Care Foundation and Roshan Bhan, secretary Confederation of Physically Handicapped.
The delegation demanded Composite Regional Centre at Jammu and apprised the Director that Rights of Person with Disabilities Act 2016 is yet to be implemented in J&K which is an injustice with people with disabilities living in J&K.
Implementation of National Trust Act 1999 was also demanded apart from the demand that all disables of J&K should be benefited under Antodey Aan Yojna. Delegation members said that they approached the concerned authorities time and again for enhancement of their monthly pension but no one paid heed to their grievance.
They said that it is very difficult to settle daily needs with just Rs. 1000 and demanded that their pension must be enhanced to Rs. 3000.
The Director gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured that she will leave no stone unturned to get the genuine issues resolved.
