Yakzee, Chosphel , Mehdi nominated as ECs

JAMMU, Oct 31: BJP councilor from Lingshed constituency, Tashi Gyalson was elected as chairman cum Chief Executive Councilor of the 6th Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, (LAHDC), Leh while his party colleague and Councilor from Diskit constituency, Tsering Angchuk was elected as Deputy Councilor in the 26 member House soon after the oath ceremony of newly elected Councilors was held in Leh today.
All the 26 members were administered oath of office and secrecy by District and Sessions Judge, Leh, R S Jasrotia. The BJP, however, got a shot in arm today one Independent Councilor from Nyoma constituency Ishey Spalzang along with his supporters joined the party.

He also took oath along with other 15 Councilors of his party. Besides, nine Councilors of Congress led by Leader of Opposition, Tsering Namgyal who won from Lower Leh constituency and another Independent Councilor from Chuahul constituency, Stanzin Konchok also took the oath.
Later the three Executive Councilors including one representing Minority community were also nominated by the newly elected chairman. They included Tashi Namgyal Yakzee councilor form Tangtsey, Stanzin Chosphel, councilor from Martselang and Ghulam Mehdi councilor from Turtuk.
During the oath ceremony BJP national general secretaries Arun Singh and Tarun Chug, MP and president Leh UT of the party, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, BJP general secretary (org) Ashok Kaul, Deputy Commissioner, Leh who is also District Electoral Authority, Sachin Kumar Vaishya and senior officers including Chief Executive Officer LAHDC, Leh were present on the occasion.
This is the first LAHDC Leh which has been constituted after the Ladakh region was given UT status last year on this day.
Later talking to reporters after assuming office, newly elected Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson said there is a lot of responsibility on the shoulders of new Councilors especially of BJP as Ladakh has now become the Union Territory. “There are many challenges in front of us and I am hopeful that we will overcome them”, he added.
Gyalson assured the people of Leh that in coming days they will work hard to make a prosperous and developed Ladakh and complimenting the people of the district for reposing faith in BJP and giving a majority to the party in LAHDC elections recently.
He said “We all will work together for the betterment and upliftment of the people of the district”. He assured that it will be a good Council “and We will discharge all the responsibilities to the best satisfaction of the people”.
In response to a question regarding implementation of 6th Schedule of the Indian Constitution in Ladakh, Gyalson said he is aware of the issue and the Apex body of Ladakh had met the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah before the elections at Delhi and they had taken a good decision in this regard. The Apex Body members on their return from Delhi showed satisfaction over the outcome of talks with the Union Home Minister, he added.
The newly elected chairman of LAHDC Leh said that whatever had been discussed in the meeting with Amit Shah that would be in the interest of Ladakh region and its people. He also made it clear that whatever cooperation would be needed by Apex Body in this regard from the new Council they are ready to provide. On the 6th Schedule implementation, he said that it is his first day in the office and let him discuss the issue with the members first.
Earlier the elected Councilor from Nyoma, Ishey Spalzang who joined the BJP in presence of senior party leaders including BJP national general secretaries, Arun Singh and Tarun Chug, MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and BJP J&K and Ladakh general secretary (org) Ashok Kaul listed various issues for the development of his area. Spalzang demanded district status for Changthang, job reservation for the region of Changthang people and promotion to the employees of the area, creation of Changthang Tourism Development Authority (TDA), relaxation to Changthang youth in recruitment for various security agencies, CD block for Hanley and issuance of ALC certificates for the people of Changthang living at the border etc.
