JAMMU, Nov 1: Police seized 18 vehicles engaged in illegally transporting mining material in Jammu, Udhampur and Samba districts.
As per police sources, in the ongoing drive against illegal mining, police seized seven dumpers and trolleys illegal transporting material in Akhnoor.
In the special drive launched in Sub Division Akhnoor under the supervision of SP Rural Sanjay Sharma and SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial, 65 dumpers and tractors were seized for illegal mining by SHO Akhnoor, SHO Gharota, SHO Khour and the concerned Chowki Officers while District Mining Officer Jammu was accordingly informed for further action in accordance with law.
Police has warned that no one shall be allowed to transport mining material without proper permission and defaulters will be dealt with strictly under law.
Police has also advised that in case of requirement in infrastructure projects under PMGSY, NREGA, NHAI or any other construction activity, proper prior permission from concerned competent authorities should be taken beforehand.
Meanwhile, a team from Rehambal Police Station led by SHO Inspector Chaman Gorkha and assisted by Incharge Police Post Tikri SI Jaswinder Singh under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Udhampur Rohit Chadgal and Additional SP Udhampur Rajinder Singh Katoch seized four tippers bearing registration numbers JK14B-8753, JK14E-5978, JK14E-8996 and JK14E-6456 which were being used for illegal transportation of the construction materials.
All the four vehicles were seized and cases have been entrusted to Geology and Mining Department Udhampur for further action.
However, teams from Bari Brahmana Police Station, Mansar Police Post and Ramgarh Police Station also seized 5 vehicles 2 tippers and 3 tractors, which were being used for illegal transportation of the construction material.
The seized vehicles bear registration numbers JK21D-5366, JK21D-2666, JK21D-6431, JK21D-6157 and JK02D-6431.
All the cases have been entrusted to Geology and Mining Department Samba for further action.
