POONCH, Nov 2: The joint team of Army and Police recovered 2.5 kg of heroin and arrested a Narcotic smuggler from Mendhar area of district Poonch today.
Official sources said that on the basis of information from Command MI Unit and further developed by Mendhar police a joint naka of Mendhar police and 37 RR was established near Government Degree College Mendhar today.
During checking, one person namely -Karan Dutta (25), son of Koushal Dutta, resident of Dharana was intercepted and during frisking, three packets weighing around 2.5 kg of heoin were recovered from his pocession.
In this regard, FIR No.258/20 under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS has been lodged at Police Station Mendhar. The possibility of consignment being smuggled from across the border can’t be ruled out. Investigation is going on to ascertain the backward and forwarded linkages.
