JAMMU, Nov 5: Sikh Progressive Front has strongly condemned Pakistani Government for handing over the affairs of Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib to Evacuees Trust Property Board (ETPB).
In a meeting of the Front held here today under the chairmanship of its president Balvinder Singh, the members strongly condemned the anti-Sikh move of the Pakistan Govt by virtue of which the management and control of Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib has been handed over to a new committee of Evacuees Trust Property Board (ETPB) without the consent and involvement of the existing Pakistan Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
It is pertinent to mention that the management of the Sikh shrines in Pakistan was handed over to the Committee namely Pakistan Gurudwara Management Committee only after a very long struggle by followers of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji which continued for nearly seven decades.
Pakistan Government got appreciation not only from Sikhs but all other communities of the world for conceding their pending demand of opening Kartarpur Corridor for the pilgrims. But the recent decision by the Pakistan Govt has shown the real colors of the Pak administration by taking away the management of the “Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib” from the Pakistan Gurdwara Management Committee and handed it over to Evacues Trust Property Board consisting of all non- Sikh members.
It is very strange and unfortunate that the Sikh Shrine in Pakistan is going to be managed and handled by the Government agency ETPB without the consent and involvement of Pakistan Gurdwara Management Committee. It is strange how a Shrine of one community can be managed and handled totally by the members of another community?
SPF took a strong exception to this highly objectionable action of Pak administration and urged upon them to withdraw this decision so that the feelings of the Sikhs All Over the World are not hurt and Pakistan Gurdwara Management should be allowed to take control of the management of Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib so that the religious sentiments of the Sikhs are not hurt.
