Two bookies arrested

JAMMU, Nov 8: Pacca Danga and Katra Police arrested two bookies.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Pacca Danga conducted raid and apprehended a bookie and recovered around Rs 2 lakh cash, which was supposed to be put on betting in ongoing IPL matches.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Pacca Danga and further investigation is going on to ascertain the names of other persons involved in this illegal trade.
When contacted, Superintendent of Police (SP) North Jammu PD Nitya confirmed about the arrest of a bookie and asserted that a detailed handout in this case will be released shortly.
Meanwhile, yesterday a man namely Rishi Kapoor, son of Kewal Krishan of Bakshi Nagar District Jammu, at present Jij Chowk Katra lodged a written complaint with Police Station Katra stating that a man identified as Vijay Kumar, son of Yash Paul Singh of Jammu, at present Rameshwari Hotel Banganga Road Katra is involved in IPL betting and cheated him viz people’s of Katra town and also looted some cash and some articles from him.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 179/2020 under Sections 420 and 294-A IPC was registered at Police Station Katra and investigation started.
During investigation, the accused namely Vijay Kumar has been arrested and three mobiles, 1 register and 1 diary were seized from his possession. The bank details of the accused are yet to be ascertained.
Further investigation of the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Katra Inspector Sunil Sharma and assisted by SI Bharat Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Katra Kuljeet Singh, SP Katra Amit Bhasin and SSP Reasi Rashmi Wazir.
