JAMMU, Nov 8: The dead bodies of a young man and a woman were found hanging from a tree in Akhnoor area of city outskirts, today.
Police sources said that the deceased were identified as Mangat Ram (30) son of Krishan Lal, resident of Nargali Ghari falling under the limits of police station Kanachak and Sarswati (25) daughter of Brij Lal Soni, resident of Chattisgarh (at present Gurha Brahmana, Akhnoor).
Sources said around 11:30 in the morning, reliable sources told Akhnoor police that dead bodies were hanging from a tree at village Bal (Gutha Brahmana) near River Chenab following which a police team rushed to the spot. They said that the FSL team was also called at the crime scene and after conducting photography/videography of the crime scene, the bodies were shifted to Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor for postmortem.
“Tomorrow, the postmortem of the bodies will be conducted by a board of doctors which is yet to be constituted,” sources said, adding prima facie it appears to be suicide case but the picture will be cleared only after the outcome of postmortem report.
However, sources said that in initial investigation of Akhnoor police it has come to fore that the both Mangat and Saraswati were in love with each other for last few years and it all started at a brick kiln in Kanachak, where they used to work together but in the recent past Saraswati and her family shifted in Gurha Brahmana area.
In this connection, inquest proceeding under Section 174 CrPC was initiated in police station Akhnoor and further investigation into the case started.
